Cheese
I'm Eila Adams and I'm here today to tell you that I LOVE cheese. There are thousands of different cheeses from all over the world and I like most of them and love many. Cheese seems simple enough to make. Take some whole milk, do some alchemy, age to taste, and zap - you have cheese.
So what I don't understand is the high cost of cheese relative to the cost of meat. Here's how I figure it. Milk is a renewable commodity. The cow gives milk every day, 365 days a year. On the other hand beef for example is not a renewable commodity. Once I slaughter the cow it is gone.
Whether it's a beef cow or a milk cow I still have to raise each animal, feed each animal, care for each animal - you see what I mean. So why is milk relatively inexpensive and cheese so expensive?
I would think that the slaughtering and butchering and aging process involved in beef production is much more complex and expensive than manufacturing and aging cheese. So I ask again. Why is cheese so expensive? Or maybe I'm asking the question backwards. Why is meat so IN-expensive.
Either way I would like to hear your opinion on this subject. If you are a dairy farmer or a beef farmer or a butcher, grocer or even a fireman, and you have any insight into my question, let me know by writing me at Feedback@nakednews.com
