China's Chutzpah - 2010-02-08
"Chutzpah" (KHOOT-spah) is a Jewish word meaning "unbelievable gall, or audacity" and is sometimes defined by the example of a young man who murders his parents asking the court for leniency because he’s an orphan.
Well, China’s recent tirade over the US selling military systems to Taiwan sure smacks of Chutzpah. Apparently it is ok for China to sell weapons and systems to just about every anti-Western and rogue nation out there, including North Korea, Iran, and Syria, but it is not ok for others to sell to China’s enemies.
China, who promised to ease up on human rights abuses, in order to gain the last Olympic Games, and didn’t. China, who censors everything on the Internet, prohibits free speech AND sells us shoddy goods and toxic pet food, is not happy...with US! How upsetting. The Chinese newswire said that selling weapons to Taiwan "violently interferes in China's internal affairs, seriously undermines China's national security and her national unification cause, and thus inevitably casts a shadow on China-U.S. relations".
And you know what. They are right. It does. Just as their selling military weapons and systems to North Korea and Iran seriously undermines the national security of our nations. Funny how China’s outrage always seems hypocritical and self-serving, isn’t it?
You know, I’m not particularly upset that China is angry at the US. But I am upset that the US and other western nations continue to feed the demon that will one day devour us. For all their self-serving hypocrisy, they do seem to have figured out our weakness: ourselves. Despite all our outrage at China, we still don’t seem to have the collective will to refuse to buy the cheap, dangerous products they sell. We at Naked News have said it many times. Economically and militarily, China is dangerous. But WE continue to be our own worst enemy. That’s why we have to ignore China’s latest posturing. A conciliatory response from the US would only make them all the more dangerous.
