The Honeymoon is Over for Obama -
Clearly the honeymoon is over and President Obama has a lot to worry about as President of the United States. Several wars, a national health plan that may never get off the ground, high unemployment, a huge deficit the list goes on. Add to that list, his chances of getting re-elected for a second term in 2012.
Mr. Obama was elected because Americans wanted a CHANGE from the Bush years. But the Obama years, at least so far, are just as painful, if not more so. So if the Republicans are smart they will put forward a charismatic, fiscal conservative to run against Obama in 2012. By that I mean NO John McCain, and certainly NO Sarah Palin. I mean somebody who looks and sounds Presidential …… like Mitt Romney.
President Obama is a good orator and he was elected on nicely spoken promises and a wave of optimism for America’s future. People were charmed by someone who promised to get them out of foreign wars, and to bring transparency and fiscal responsibility to Washington. Those DO sound like great things. But so far, we have seen little progress on any of these fronts.Mr. Obama and his team know this, and you can bet they are worried. Don’t get me wrong I am not saying that being President of the Unites States is an easy job NOR that President Obama is doing a bad job.
But Mr. Obama’s team knows that the beginning of the race towards November 2012 is not very far away. The Democrats will be looking for some victories on the policy front and SOON to get some positive buzz back. But they have to be listening for the Republican footsteps behind them, and those will only get LOUDER… if the G.O.P. can put together a great ticket. As always, we’re interested in your thoughts on this Commentary.
