A Matter of Survival -
In free and democratic societies we generally fight crime and terrorism with one hand tied behind our backs. That hindrance is the combination of our respect for human rights, individual freedom and tolerance. But it is important for us to remember: we do not receive equal consideration from the criminals and terrorists.
So it’s not as surprising as it might seem, that some of these criminals and terrorists have spent considerable time here on our own soil. Take for example the case of the attempted Xmas bombing aboard Northwest Airlines. Umar Abdulmutallab may have been born and raised in Nigeria and trained by Al Qaeda in Yemen, but he received his education at University College in the UK. In fact, he became President of University College’s Islamic Society, where his radical views and hatreds were formulated.
The UK has become an incubator for Islamic terrorism. In fact, the London Times has reported that Abdulmutallab "is the FOURTH president of a London Islamic society to face terrorist charges in THREE YEARS."It is about time we woke up and realized we are in a war for ultimate survival. These people want to dominate us, or destroy us in the trying. There is no negotiation or compromise with this enemy. They believe they have a DIVINE right to force their beliefs on you and I, and they ARE willing to die in the attempt. People who are willing to blow up airplanes with themselves on board are willing to use nuclear and biochemical weapons if they can get their hands on them. We cannot fight these people with one hand tied behind our back.
We need to face the fact that "profiling" isn’t inherently a bad thing. Police forces around the world have known for years that certain crimes are GENERALLY committed by certain demographic groups or sub-groups, and recognizing that, is valuable when SOLVING crimes. Isn’t it about time that we recognize that, maybe, it can be valuable in PREVENTING crimes, too? It’s not politically correct, but it’s undeniable that today’s terrorists are rarely Lutheran European women or Buddhist Asian businessmen, for example. They are, often, Islamic Fundamentalists with a Middle-East background. There. We said it. Denying that fact and objecting to profiling on those stats is simply closing our eyes to a fact we don’t want to face: the fact that political correctness could, literally, be the death of us.
