Nepal Corruption - 2009-07-13

The ingenuity of men never ceases to astound me. We have circumnavigated the globe, reached the Poles and travelled beyond our planet and back. Our resourcefulness is boundless.

So here we go again. The government of Nepal has come up with a giant stride in keeping some its employees honest. It seems that employees at the country’s International Airport have become brazen in their demands for bribes. This is hurting not only the world’s view of Nepal...but also its tourism industry. So...man’s genius to the rescue.

From this time forward Nepal Airport employees will be issued...I am quoting here..."bribe-proof garments". How does one make garments bribe-proof, you ask? Simple say the Nepalese authorities. No pockets. No pockets equals no place to put the bribe money you are extorting.

Ok...Nepal is, according to this report, one of the poorest countries in the world. (said as an aside: With this kind of thinking I can see why.

Personally I can see a lot of women (and men) stuffing their bras full of the illicit fruit of their transgressions, and that might help tourism right there. But I conclude that this is not a real attempt at halting Airport corruption. It is merely window dressing. If they REALLY wanted to end airport corruption in Nepal, the answer is OBVIOUS. All employees must work, as we do here at Naked News – in the buff.
