New President
You may recall that Naked News was the first news network to call the election for Obama, -- and we did so ---- IN AUGUST.
So the US election is over and there is a new U.S. President and to some degree, a new Congress. The American people have been promised "CHANGE" implying "CHANGE FOR THE BETTER".
But make no mistake this is no Jimmy Stewart movie. There may be a new President but the "good old boys" network that exists in the US Congress likely has not changed at all.
Members of Congress seem to have three goals:
- get a good pension
- make some powerful friends while you are in office to benefit you when you are out of office
- and GET RE-ELECTED
Not one of those goals includes serving the interests of the people they are supposed to represent. People, who now and always, have substantial and pressing needs.
In our view, they proved this when voting on the recent bail-out of Wall Street.
The economy is, to say the least, a disaster. The Iraq and Afghan war are a huge drain on resources. The US is still oil dependent and China and other third world nations have turned the US into a nation of consumers and not producers.
So 4 years from now the politicians will speak of change again. But nothing really changes --- does it?
We want very much to be wrong about this President and this Congress. We would be content to be wrong about only one of them.
Time will tell, and it will be our job, as always, to report the news as it unfolds.
