Parrot Picks Winners - 2009-08-17

We try to present you serious subjects on our Naked News Commentaries. So you will forgive us if we take a small segue [SEG WAY] into the absurd or at least the light hearted. We pay stock brokers, financial advisors and the like a fair chunk of our investment portfolio for their supposedly sage advice. They spend fortunes telling us how good they are at making us money – but usually they are much better at making themselves money, whether we make any or not.

So I love this story. A 5 year old parrot named Strawberry…. Yes you heard me right I said "Parrot"...as in the "Polly want a cracker variety"...came in 3rd in a recent stock investment contest with a return of almost 14% on her portfolio.

In these days of world recession and all time low interest rates, I would happily accept a 14% return on my investments.

What this suggests to me is that stock market investing is really no different that gambling. The stock market is a crap shoot and the average guy’s odds of winning or losing are probably just as good with a professional advisor, employing a psychic or asking your friendly neighbourhood pet shop parrot.

For those of you who are interested, I have developed an almost fool proof method of making money in the stock market. Empirically it works about 97% of the time. It is really quite simple. Whatever I do...do the opposite. Trust me. It is a proven method.
