The Postman Cometh No More - 2009-05-25

In High School, We all learned about the Industrial Revolution. Now, we’re LIVING the Digitial Revolution, and it is changing every aspect of our lives. Everything that can go digital, soon will. It makes me a little wistful, but I predict that paper mail and Letter Carriers will disappear very soon. I foresee the postman will go the way of the Pony Express.

I predict that our mail will be delivered digitally to our Television, and our Television will ultimately be our central computer system.

More and more people are using Email. Heck, even my grandma has an email address. And those last stragglers will soon follow suit. The final trickle of paper mail will be automatically digitized by the Postal Service and delivered to them as digital mail.

No more buying stamps. No more collecting stamps. No more jobs for the men or women walking or driving to your home to deliver the mail, "through snow and rain and heat and gloom of night." It will truly be the end of an era.

Oh Well. I don’t get much mail anymore anyways. Most of it is junk mail or bills that I can do without. My friends don’t send me mail via the post office...they email. So practically speaking, I won’t miss it. Plus, think of all the trees we’ll save if we get rid of paper junk mail and paper bills.

Of course, I still need all the important collectibles ‘n stuff I buy on Ebay delivered to my door - until that Star Trek-like Transporter I’ve been working on is perfected, that is...If only I can figure out how to get it not to scramble the protons.

Let me know what you think about my prediction concerning the demise of the postal service by writing me at Feedback@nakednews.com. Until tomorrow, I’m Katherine Curtis.
